Nothing I couldn't handle. Got a bit roughed up, before -

[She cuts herself off there, voice trembling a bit. She swallows a lump in her throat, and forces herself to keep speaking.]

You must have died too.

Yeah. Ugliest death yet, that one.

[His voice is flat. He's used to it. Not so used to other things being thrown his way recently---and things that might be thrown his way in the near future.]

But that doesn't bother me. I'll just be staying in the room for a little while.

It was horrible.

[She's referring to watching her Doctor die, but realizing she's died isn't all that great either. She's still not able to entirely detach from the situation.]

If you find your way out of your room...oh say, at some point in the next day or so, think you might stop by for a visit?

S'pose it couldn't hurt me.

Think I can hold out until then, yeah. I'm hiding away in my room too, so I shouldn't be difficult to find.

Anything you'd like to eat? Thought I'd bring some lunch.

I'll like anything you bring, Doctor. I'm not exactly picky.

[Still...after experiences with her Doctor, it's probably best to figure out what kind of things he's prone to bringing.]

What sort of things do you like? Nothing weird, I hope.

[fantastix]

I like bananas. My spiced banana bread usually turns heads.

But as far as real food, I'm fond of red meats. Add a hearty sauce, a grain, and some grilled vegetables and we're golden.

[bossily]

Oh, so you're normal. Always good to know.

[It pulls a soft laugh out of her, anyway.]

Spiced banana bread, though. I wouldn't have pegged you as being much of a baker, but now I know who to rope into helping me on souffle baking day.

...souffles are dangerous work. You've got to do it just right or it'll all fall flat.

You'd trust me with that?

Of course I would, I trust you with just about anything. Including my mother's recipe.

Then we'll just have to make it perfect.
