the wing meme
[flashy image of wings goes here]
What's that? You're suddenly not feeling well? You sink down, shuddering, as you feel your blood pool in your back. There's an intense pain beneath the surface, and then---wings, extending freely from your back, of quite the inconvenience to anything you might've been wearing. They've taken on a form that reflects you...feathery like a bird's? Glowing with energy like a circuit? Leathery like a bat's? Mechanical, cloth?
Whatever it is that's on your back, regardless of how unlikely it seems with the wingspan and your body's weight, they'll work. You can fly. Call it magic, call it gravity manipulation, whatever it is...you can fly.
Have fun explaining this to your friends and sorting things out.

He huffs, folding his hands over his chest while he walks, wings flattened against his back to the best of his ability.. He still wears the tatters of his jumper because he's been too busy to bother with it---he's definitely muttering and pacing, poking at the batty wings with a sneer of displeasure.
"Some help you are. Won't even fly, you'll just keep me out of doorways. The TARDIS can stretch her insides, but there's no fixing that doorway. Or any other doorway. Won't this be pleasant? Can't wait to show the gang."

Wherever he was.

Not far, as it turns out. There's a clattering of tools on the floor, and he bends to pick them up---looking up to see Rose in the doorway.
"Rose," he breathed, instantly tossing the things behind him and approaching her, leathery masses towering over his shoulder. "I can fix this. Fairly sure there won't be more changes."
no subject
She only stares for the briefest of moments. It hadn't been just her then. Whatever was going on was TARDIS-wide. ..Well sort of; it was just the two of them on the ship. Still, she looks marginally concerned at the predicament, if a bit .. enamored.
"But .. Where'd they come from?"
no subject
"Dunno. That's what we're going to find out. I'm sure something's been picked up."
Once they're in the room, he's stretched them out to their full wingspan again. Can't let them cramp up. He then pauses to look Rose over.
"You feeling all right?"

-Mechanics' work often requires him to squeeze into small spaces
-Combat will be more difficult with extra limbs
-The new muscles ache
-Humans can't fly
But instead, he has a new toy to play with of sorts. He's tied an apron around himself as a replacement for a shirt for now, found a quiet place outside, and started to stretch and fold the wings. The sleek blue feathers actually look fairly nice in the sunlight, he supposes---but the full effect in the mirror had been a little disturbing.
He presses on with his tests, putting his worries aside for later. Hey, they can spring out fairly quickly! Neat.

Well...this is a new brand of inconvenient.

It might be a new way for you to participate in combat, though. They're nice.

[He winces and rubs at his feather, fluffy and ridiculous in comparison]

*He adjusts his wings as well as he can to get them further away from Billy without touching the walls.*

[Billy follows, his wings folded tightly against his back.]

*Luckily, Margulis lives on the first floor, so getting outside doesn't take long.*

It'd probably be easier to glide, but we risk serious injury if we take off from up high.

Hmph, you might. I make a habit of jumping from some of these rooftops as part of my ordinary travel.

[He's a little jealous. Okay. Very.]
